JX's in the Mexican Army!
by Ivor Hope inone of the many things that totally amazed me when i first read ray franz's first book was the way in which jw's bribed the authorities to get their "pink slip" to say they had completed military service.
not only that, they were also listed as reservists for the mexican army.. does any one know if those jw's are still listed, and if so, shouldn't they be d?a's by their actions?

GLOBAL HALT ON KINGDOM HALL CONSTRUCTION?
by stevieb1 inon another post a number of days ago it was rumoured that the society were going to announce or had already intimated that due to financial constraints there was to be an immediate stop to all kingdom hall construction worldwide.
if this is true this would be big news!!
can anyone on here, especially jw insiders shed any further light on this matter or offer some sort of evidence that this is/is not so.

Questions on Stephen Bates Article WT attack
by messenger inthought you'd be interested to know that i have just been forwarded a note from the watch tower, belatedly in response to the tiny little story i got in on 17 november about that chicago jw couple accused of beating their daughter to death.
it is interesting that they shld respond - on headed notepaper, apparently from pennsylvania - nearly a month later about something that really got very little space and i can't help feeling it's not unconnected with the other stuff i was writing at that time.
this is it, in full:.

Here's a few links to the 2 UN articles and firstly the one about the child being beaten. Stephen also wrote a very interesting article in The Tablet worth looking at.

It's not just the WTS Stephen Bates has writen about, see what was the result after an article about the Cathoplic church which they didn't like.
"In October, the Vatican announced the Archbishop's departure from office as being in conformity with canon law, by which he could be requested to resign because of illness or because he had become unsuited for the fulfilment of his office.
Counsel said Mr Bates reported these facts and deduced, quite reasonably, that on the basis of the Archbishop's continued expression of good health, the Pope had requested him to resign and deemed him unfit to fulfil his office for a grave reason other than ill-health.
The Catholic Herald Ltd and the editor, Dr William Oddie, now accepted that the central facts stated in Mr Bates's article were true and that their allegation was false.
They apologised and had agreed to pay Mr Bates substantial damages and his legal costs."
Thw WBTS needs to be careful who they are messing with!!

Somebody is lying!
by avengers in<href=" http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=19399&site=3.
the issuance of a library pass is independent of ngo status or any other status.
there has been no change in the library pass policy.. <href=" http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=15511&site=3.

DAC, I agree with you that it's the fact that they entered into ANY type of links with the UN is flying in the face of their well publicised dogma that is the major issue here.
However, the fact that they have made up this excuse to explain that connection away to the rank & file is an equally important issue. When you consider all the puiblications they have brought out discussing lying and that Satan is the "father of the lie", if people can see they have been lying, it may be easier for them to acknowledge that that is wrong than getting their heads around the pros and cons of having a library card. Especially if they are willing to accept that this information about the alleged requirement or non-requirement for a Library card changes in 1991 actually comes directly from the UN.
Also the matter of why the excuse in other countries was that their status as an NGO allowed them to pursue their humanitarian work more effectively!! WHAT HUMANITARIAN WORK IS THAT, THEN? Again, if they are as unified as they would lead us all to believe, why couldn't they get their story right.
I think this issue has got a lot of JW's flustered who are now struggling with their consiences while trying to resolve all these conflicting stories in their own minds.

Corruption within the elder ranks!
by JohnSteadman ini have been serving as a presiding overseer in the united kingdom for over 20 years, in my time i have seen the organisation develop and grow both spiritually and financially.
i have seen elders come and go but more so than any other time i have witnessed lies and cover ups from elders, co's, bethel members which have caused me great upset.
i do not wish to go into any details but would like to warn people of the dishonesty that has become jehovah's organisation.

Hi John,
You more than most will have seen the changes that have taken place in recent years. Now you've "seen the light" you can try to help others who may still look up to you to have the veil lifted also.

It was reading some of thses old books that convinced me about the true roots and nature of the WTS.
I've scanned a few pages and put them on my web site...espially from "Millions Now Living WILL Never Die" (Ever noticed the Society mis-quote this title as "Milliions now living MAY never die"?)

Global Stop on all Kingdom Hall Building Work!

If it is true, what could be the reason. The only thing I can think of is the fact that they laon individual congregations money to build halls and then charge interest on it (interest on money freely donated for the express purpose of building new halls!). Any such loans have to be repaid with interest, which then becomes another taxable source of income to the Society. Maybe they don't want to pay the tax on it - again!!
I would love to know if anyone else has heard.
